We created a blog! Dale and I decided it's time to join the world of bloggers and have our own page. We hope it will help to keep people informed of what is happening in our lives. With the trip to Papua New Guinea (PNG) only days away, we thought it might be fun to post stories, memories, updates, and prayer requests as he and David head overseas. I (Carin) imagine I might be one who writes most of the posts, but that's fine. I enjoy the process of writing and telling stories.
As I type, the living room is spread with suitcases and items to pack for Dale and David's trip to PNG. I have forgotten how stressful it is to pack for a long overseas trip to the jungle! With the comforts we used to have at our station, Yehebi, long gone, I've had to rack my brain to remember all the things they will need to survive for a month - air mattresses, sheets, towels, basic kitchen supplies, a few food items, hats, sunblock, and all types of creams and medicines for those "just in case" moments.
On top of that, I've been busy making a list of items for them to buy once they reach the town of Kiunga. You know, I wouldn't want them to get out to the middle of the jungle and not have any toilet paper! So it's pretty important I try to remember all the details!
Do I wish I was going with them? You bet! I feel pretty lousy being left behind, and Dale is kinda bummed out, too. I would have LOVED to have gone and seen all the Gobasi women (and made sure my guys were well-taken care of!) yet I have full confidence that for some reason unknown to us that God had a different plan. I'll just have to keep myself real busy this summer to help the time fly.
I hope to post more news and thoughts once the guys are on their way.
